Semiconductor International Recognizes Applied Materials' Producer CVD System with Best Product Award

Industry's Unique Producer System Awarded for Production Excellence
Applied Materials, Inc. today announced that its ultra-high productivity Producer(TM) system has received an Editors' Choice Best Product Award from Semiconductor International magazine. Producer, which is used to deposit dielectric CVD (chemical vapor deposition) films on sub-0.18 micron devices, was recognized with this prestigious award for its significant contribution to semiconductor manufacturing.
The annual Editors' Choice Best Product Award program involves a rigorous evaluation process that requires product candidates be nominated by customers who use the product in production. Customers are required to evaluate the products on actual performance in day-to-day semiconductor fab operations.

Introduced in July 1998, the Producer features a revolutionary platform architecture that combines the throughput benefits of Twin Chamber(TM) process modules and dual-wafer handling to achieve the highest productivity per square foot of system area. By supporting up to three Twin Chamber modules, six wafers can be processed simultaneously for throughputs of more than 120 wafers per hour. Producer also features Remote Clean(TM) technology that virtually eliminates the emission of global-warming perfluorocompound (PFC) gases.
