What:  Applied Materials hosts U.S. Secretary of Education Richard W.
       Riley for an invitation-only breakfast meeting with Silicon
       Valley corporate and education leaders.

       The meeting topic addresses one of the most critical issues in 
       Silicon Valley: how we can work together to improve our
       schools.

Where: The Fairmont Hotel's Club Regent, 170 S. Market Street, San
       Jose.

Background:

Secretary Riley's meeting with Silicon Valley corporate and education leaders kicks off a day of activities produced in partnership with Applied Materials, the Commonwealth Club/Silicon Valley and Project H.E.L.P. (High Expectations Learning Program). From 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., Secretary Riley will appear at a Commonwealth Club luncheon in the Fairmont Hotel's Imperial Ballroom. From 2 to 3 p.m., he will appear at a Sunnyvale convocation at Ellis Elementary School for Project H.E.L.P students.
